Are you a hands-on creator looking for a better work-life balance? This is a unique four-day-a-week role, perfect for a skilled professional who enjoys the classroom and the workshop but wants their Fridays back. Starting as a temporary member of staff after the May half-term, there is a clear pathway to a permanent contract starting in September 2026 for the right candidate.
You will be the heartbeat of the workshop four days a week, ensuring a safe environment while also stepping up to lead student learning.
- Preparing materials (wood, metal, plastics) and maintaining machinery such as bandsaws, sanders, and CAD/CAM equipment.
- Taking the lead on specific D&T lessons, guiding students through practical projects and theory.
- Maintaining strict safety standards and conducting routine risk assessments.
We need a proactive individual who is comfortable with both workshop machinery and student engagement.
- Previous experience in a school workshop or similar role.
- Proficiency in using standard workshop machinery; knowledge of 3D printing or laser cutting is a plus.
- Confidence in leading a classroom and demonstrating practical skills to groups of young people.
- Ability to commit to a consistent Monday to Thursday schedule.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
