About the School

As part of a strategic growth plan, a brand-new SEND Secondary School opened in September 2025 in Surrey. The school caters to young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. Our students access a broad curriculum aligned with national standards but personalised to their unique interests. With small class sizes, high levels of support, and a multi-disciplinary intervention team, we ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve.

The Role

We are seeking a Nurture Teacher to join our founding team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the school's journey from its early stages. You will be based at our main site with occasional requirements to work at our nearby satellite site.

Main Purpose: To deliver high-quality teaching and learning for students with complex needs. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with challenging behaviours. You will work to create a supportive environment that fosters both academic and emotional growth.

Key Duties

  • Curriculum Delivery: Contribute to the development of a curriculum that addresses the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Planning & Assessment: Maintain short, medium, and long-term plans; set and review personalised targets to optimise individual learning.
  • Collaboration: Work within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report progress to parents, senior staff, and external funding bodies.
  • Behaviour Management: Use non-confrontational methods to manage challenging behaviours in line with school policies.
  • Professional Awareness: Stay current on issues regarding autism to ensure effective lesson planning and delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in special school settings, specifically with ASC and SEND
  • Ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum and strong National Curriculum knowledge
