About the Provision: Innovation in SEND Education
Are you an ambitious SEND practitioner who wants to work at the cutting edge of therapeutic education? The Aurora Group is expanding its footprint with our newly established secondary provision in Chaldon, Surrey. Purpose-built for young people aged 11-16, our school is designed specifically for students navigating complex social communication profiles, sensory processing differences, and emotional regulation needs typically associated with Autism. We don't just accommodate neurodivergence; we build our entire pedagogy around it. Driven by a model of low-arousal environments, low student-to-staff ratios, and a fully integrated, supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team, we provide a gold-standard framework for relational, trauma-informed teaching.
The Role: Multi-Disciplinary Excellence
As a Nurture Teacher, you will be a key architect in shaping the educational journey of our students from the ground up. This role bridges the gap between academic progress and therapeutic development, requiring a practitioner who understands that cognitive development relies entirely on emotional safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bespoke Curriculum Delivery: Adapt, differentiate, and deliver a broad curriculum allied to the National Curriculum, specifically tailored to accommodate executive functioning deficits and sensory profiles.
- Transdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner daily with our on-site multi-disciplinary team (including Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists) to embed therapeutic goals directly into classroom learning.
- Data-Informed Progression: Set, monitor, and evaluate highly personalised targets. You will play a crucial role in reviewing EHCPs, PEPs, and LAC documentation to ensure measurable holistic growth.
- Advanced Behaviour Communication: Implement proactive, non-confrontational strategies to support students presenting with complex behaviours and high anxiety, operating strictly within a low-arousal framework.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Required for the £5,000 welcome bonus eligibility.
- Specialist SEND Experience: Proven experience within an ASC special school, alternative provision, or nurture unit setting.
- Clinical Literacy: A robust understanding of ASC, SEMH, and how co-occurring conditions impact emotional regulation and learning.
- Adaptability: A collaborative mindset ready to support our growth strategy across both our primary Chaldon campus and our Caterham satellite site.
Desirable Criteria:
- Postgraduate qualifications in SEND, Autism, or Therapeutic Education (e.g., National Award for SEN Coordination, Masters in SEND).
- Experience in designing innovative, autism-specific curricula or low-arousal classroom environments.
