Do you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring every student has the best chance to succeed? Are you ready to play a key role in supporting students' educational journeys through effective attendance management? If yes, we would love to hear from you! We are currently seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join the team in Newmarket (Cambridgeshire). This vital role will involve monitoring and recording student attendance, liaising with parents and carers, and working closely with staff to ensure high attendance rates.
This is a full-time role and you will be expected to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only.
Your role will include:
- Monitoring and recording daily attendance and punctuality of students
- Following up on absences and lateness with parents/carers and ensuring all reasons for absences are documented
- Working closely with the senior leadership team to address attendance issues and develop strategies to improve attendance rates
- Producing regular attendance reports for staff, governors and the local authority
- Liaising with external agencies, such as education welfare officers, to support students with persistent attendance issues
- Maintaining accurate attendance records in accordance with school policies and legal requirements
Who we're looking for:
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with parents, students and staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in using attendance management systems and Microsoft Office software
- A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving
- Experience in a similar role or within an educational setting is desirable but not essential
- Eligibility to work in the UK is essential
- Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to complete a new DBS
- Relevant professional experience with 2 recent professional references
