An opening has arisen for a Qualified SEN Teacher to join our partner specialist school in Mildenhall. We are seeking a visionary teacher to lead a class of students with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties. This is a Full-Time role (long-term contract) that offers the chance to build deep, meaningful connections with your pupils and drive their development forward. Please note: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead with Purpose: Plan and deliver a highly differentiated curriculum that focuses on both academic milestones and essential functional life skills.
  • Master the EHCP: Take full ownership of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, ensuring that every lesson moves the student closer to their long-term goals.
  • Classroom Synergy: Lead and mentor your team of Teaching Assistants to provide a seamless, supportive, and safe environment for all learners.
  • Positive Climate: Utilise de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support to maintain a calm and productive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborative Growth: Work alongside therapists and parents to ensure a holistic approach to each child's educational and emotional journey.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in regular staff training and professional reviews to keep your SEN practice at the cutting edge.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
  • Proven experience teaching students with SEN (e.g., ASC, SLD, or SEMH).
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic teaching style that can pivot to meet sensory or emotional needs in real-time.
  • Strong classroom leadership skills and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary support team.
  • A deep understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and experience with small-step assessment frameworks.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and the dignity of every student.
  • An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
