This Senior Safeguarding Officer position is a full‑time contract role focused on supporting the senior vice principal for safeguarding in Bromley. The hours per week will be 37 hours from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Support on all aspects of safeguarding as per ever‑evolving national and local guidance
  • Maintain a strong link with the schools’ designated safeguarding lead
  • Ensure every school site has a robust safeguarding culture and staff have excellent knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Attend all relevant safeguarding meetings, including child protection conferences and strategy meetings
  • Work closely with external agencies (local authorities, social services, the police, education welfare services, etc.) to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
  • Support the provision of medication and care, ensuring we have first‑aiders, consistent systems and appropriately resourced medical rooms
  • Help maintain school systems, including the online safeguarding portals (CPOMS) and the MIS (Arbor)
  • Attend meetings, including leadership and strategic meetings, as invited and necessary

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a safeguarding role with young people 16‑25 and vulnerable adults
  • Knowledge/experience of working with learners where English is a second language
  • Ideally experience of working in an FE/education setting
  • Awareness of current safeguarding concerns and priorities for young people, including online safety
  • Experience of partnership working – LA, children’s social care, police, YJS, probation service, etc.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to get one
  • Two recent professional references
  • Right to work in the UK (essential)
  • Communication skills (with pupils, families & professionals) and organisational skills
