We are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated, and structured Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join the team at Harris Academy Chobham for the upcoming academic year. This role is perfect for a Phonics specialist who thrives in a collaborative environment. Working closely with class teachers and the phonics lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all pupils across the KS1 phase achieve their full potential in reading and writing.
Your Role:
- Phonics Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality, daily Read Write Inc. phonics sessions to a designated group, ensuring strong fidelity to the programme and excellent pupil progress.
- Classroom Support: Work within a Key Stage 1 classroom and across the wider KS1 phase to support teaching, learning, and student assessment.
- Wider School Duties: Actively contribute to outdoor supervision as part of the school's OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) provision, encouraging active, safe, and inclusive playtimes.
- Collaborative Assessment: Partner closely with class teachers and the phonics lead to assess progress, adapt provision, and maintain high standards in early literacy.
Requirements:
- Phonics Expertise: Proven experience delivering high-quality phonics teaching and completion of Read Write Inc. phonics training is essential.
- KS1 Experience: Prior experience working within a Key Stage 1 educational setting.
- Key Skills: Strong communication skills, professional organization, flexibility, and a commitment to maintaining high expectations for all children.
- Availability: Available Term-Time only, 5 days per week for the full academic year contract (3rd September 2026 - 16th July 2027).
- Compliance: An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) and a valid Right to Work in the UK.
