In this high-impact role, you will act as the resident expert for complex needs, taking full ownership of the curriculum and group management for learners transitioning into adulthood. Key Leadership & Curriculum Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Innovation: Design and lead robust, bespoke learning programmes across the four Preparing for Adulthood pathways: Social, Vocational, Independent Living, and Health.
  • Specialist Instruction: Deliver high-quality, sensory-based teaching, integrating functional literacy and numeracy tailored for autistic learners with complex profiles.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide line management and daily guidance to support staff, including performance reviews, objective setting, and sharing best practices in SEN.
  • EHCP Oversight: Lead the EHCP review process for your group, ensuring all individual learning plans and trackers are meticulously managed and reflect meaningful progress.
  • Accreditation: Coordinate and oversee accessible accreditation pathways, such as AQA Unit Awards, to celebrate and certify learner achievements.
  • Positive Support: Develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and risk assessments, ensuring a dignified and trauma-informed approach to care.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven Experience: Extensive background as a SEND Tutor or Teacher, specifically working with autistic individuals and those with complex learning needs.
  • Curriculum Expertise: A strong grasp of functional Maths and Literacy progression and a deep understanding of EHCP outcome tracking.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience mentoring or managing support staff, with the ability to delegate effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in using structured, sensory-informed teaching methods and a solid understanding of safeguarding duties.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and written skills for reporting and professional collaboration.
  • Personal Care: A willingness to support learners with personal care needs in a dignified manner when required.
Desirable: QTS or an Adult Teaching qualification, along with knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
