We are seeking dedicated Secondary Support Assistants to work across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, providing both subject support and pastoral care. This role is ideal for future teachers, social workers, or educational psychologists seeking practical experience in a fast‑paced secondary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Subject Support – help students grasp complex concepts in Maths, English, Science, and other subjects to improve their GCSE prospects.
  • Mentorship – act as a positive role model, fostering resilience, organisation, and confidence in teenagers.
  • Targeted Interventions – lead small breakout groups or 1:1 sessions for students needing extra support in literacy, numeracy, or specific coursework.
  • In‑Class Support – collaborate with subject teachers to manage classroom dynamics and ensure students with additional needs (SEND) can access the lesson.
  • Pastoral Care – assist with emotional regulation and social skills, helping students navigate secondary school life.
  • Exam Access Support – act as a reader or scribe during mock exams and assessments to ensure students can demonstrate their full potential.

Qualifications

  • Strong communicator who can explain difficult ideas simply and build rapport with students aged 11‑16.
  • Relevant experience from a school, university tutoring, sports coaching, or volunteering with youth groups.
  • Proactive and resilient, able to handle a high‑energy environment and stay calm under pressure.
  • Committed to safeguarding and student welfare; hold an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply).
