Are you a creative professional ready to start work immediately? We are seeking a proactive and organised Art Technician to join a vibrant Secondary School in Rainham. Because we need someone to hit the ground running ASAP, we are looking for candidates who already hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service to ensure a seamless transition into the classroom. You will play a vital role in the department, ensuring that both teachers and students have the environment and materials they need to excel.
Key Responsibilities
- GCSE Exam Preparation: A crucial part of this role involves assisting Year 11 students as they prepare for their GCSE Art & Design exams. You will support students in mounting their final portfolios and ensuring work is presented to a professional, board-compliant standard for external moderation.
- Resource Management: Preparing materials (clay, paint, textiles, etc.) for daily lessons and maintaining equipment such as kilns and printing presses.
- Classroom Support: Assisting teachers during practical demonstrations and helping students navigate technical processes during the timed exam period.
- Exhibition & Display: Helping to organise displays of student work around the school to celebrate achievements and foster a creative atmosphere.
- Health & Safety: Ensuring the art studios are safe, tidy, and compliant with COSHH regulations.
About You
- DBS Requirement: You must already hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate. Candidates without a current DBS may not be considered due to the urgency of the start date.
- Experience: Previous experience as an Art Technician or a strong background in Fine Art/Design is essential. Familiarity with GCSE assessment objectives is highly desirable.
- Availability: You must be available to start ASAP.
- Attitude: You are reliable, able to work under pressure during busy exam seasons, and enjoy favouring a collaborative approach.
