Operations Manager (Education)
Salary: £38,480.00 – £41,192.00 (Grade 11, Point 33-36)
Hours: 37 hours per week (7:00 am start)
Contract: Term time plus 2 weeks
Closing Date: Monday, 1st June 2026 at 9:00 am
The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional and innovative Operations Manager to join our dynamic 11-16 comprehensive school. As a key member of the leadership support structure, you will provide day-to-day leadership for all support functions, ensuring our school operates efficiently and safely to provide the best possible environment for student learning.
The Role
This is a diverse and impactful role responsible for the management and supervision of several core teams. Your main areas of responsibility will include:
- Leadership & Management: Line managing the Office Manager, Site Manager, Reprographics Technician, and Catering Manager.
- Administration: Designing and maintaining streamlined administrative systems that deliver exceptional outcomes.
- Facility Management: Overseeing the school estates function, ensuring all building improvements, repairs, and security operations are carried out to a high standard.
- Daily Operations: Managing the daily cover for absent teachers, including allocating work and updating management systems by 7:45 am daily.
- Health & Safety: Acting as the school’s Health & Safety Co-ordinator and Fire Officer to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations.
- Catering & Resources: Monitoring onsite canteen contracts and overseeing reprographics and library systems.
- Educational Visits: Serving as the Educational Visits Coordinator to approve and monitor school trips.

The successful candidate will be a calm and professional leader who can meet strict deadlines under pressure. We are looking for:
- Experience: Proven experience in managing people, budgets, and Health & Safety. Experience within an educational environment is desirable.
- Skills: Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and influence strategic decision-making.
- Qualities: A hard-working and reliable individual who is committed to inclusion and treats others with respect and courtesy.
- Qualifications: Evidence of continuing professional development is essential. A management or business degree (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
