Salary: £180 - £260 per day (dependent on pay scale)

Randstad Education is currently recruiting a dedicated Food Tech Teacher for a popular secondary school in Thetford. This position is a 3-month contract running from September through to December, with a strong possibility of extending further into the academic year. As an experienced Food Tech Teacher, you will take on full class responsibilities, making this an exciting opportunity to lead practical cookery and theory sessions across year groups.
Because this role involves full planning, preparing, and teaching responsibilities-including preparing GCSE students for their assessments-we are specifically looking for a qualified Food Tech Teacher holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Key Responsibilities

Deliver Practical & Theoretical Lessons: As an impactful Food Tech Teacher, you will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Food Preparation and Nutrition lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).

GCSE Preparation & Assessment: Lead full teaching duties for GCSE classes, managing practical cooking examinations, coursework moderation, and targeted exam preparation.

Kitchen Safety & Hygiene: Uphold rigorous health, safety, and food hygiene standards across food technology rooms, ensuring equipment and ingredients are managed safely.

Nutritional Education: Teach pupils essential life skills, culinary techniques, food provenance, balanced nutrition, and kitchen safety.

Departmental Support: Work closely with technicians and departmental peers to organize practical sessions, manage ingredient ordering, and track pupil attainment.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for a highly organized, enthusiastic Food Tech Teacher with strong subject knowledge and confident classroom management.

Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.

Proven track record of working as a Food Tech Teacher delivering GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition within a UK secondary setting.

Demonstrable experience handling full planning, marking, and assessment duties for exam-level students.

Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene protocols, and practical room management.

Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
