An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified English Teacher to join a supportive Secondary School in Mildenhall. This is a Full-Time long-term contract where you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. We are looking for a teacher who can engage students with a variety of learning styles, fostering a classroom environment where debate, creativity, and academic rigor go hand‑in‑hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Leadership: Plan and deliver a rich English curriculum that covers everything from Shakespearean drama to modern persuasive writing.
  • GCSE Preparation: Lead Year 11 cohorts through the complexities of their English Language and Literature assessments, focusing on high-level analysis and exam technique.
  • Literacy Development: Implement targeted strategies to support reading and writing skills across all ability levels, ensuring no student is left behind.
  • Creative Engagement: Develop innovative resources that make complex texts accessible and relevant to the lives of young people today.
  • Assessment & Marking: Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work, using data to inform interventions and celebrate progress.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.
  • A degree-level qualification in English Literature or English Language.
  • Proven experience teaching the English National Curriculum within a UK Secondary setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build a positive rapport with diverse student groups.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and a commitment to high standards of pedagogy.
  • An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
