This role is integral to our Inclusion department, focusing on providing tailored support to students aged 11-16 across the curriculum to ensure they achieve their educational potential and successfully transition into adulthood.

The Role:

  • Specialist In-Class Support: Provide high-quality one-to-one or small-group interventions within mainstream classes, supporting students with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Promote Inclusion and Independence: Encourage students to engage fully with their peers and the curriculum, fostering self-esteem, confidence, and crucial independent learning skills.
  • Behaviour Management: Utilise positive and proactive strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, maintaining a safe, purposeful, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Monitor and accurately record student progress, providing detailed and regular feedback to the SENCo, class teachers, and external agencies (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists).
  • Pastoral and Physical Care: Provide general care, support pupils with their emotional well-being, and assist with personal care and mobility where required (full training provided).

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16), ideally supporting those with specific and complex SEN.
  • A deep understanding of different types of learning difficulties, disabilities, and effective intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to adapt your style to the specific needs of individual students.
  • Exceptional patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and proactive during challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for promoting the welfare and academic achievement of all pupils, and a commitment to safeguarding.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage documentation (IEPs, progress reports, records).

What We Offer

  • The chance to work in a dedicated, multi-disciplinary Inclusion team.
  • Excellent professional development opportunities focused on specialist SEN training.
  • A highly rewarding role where your commitment directly impacts student success.

This is a permanent, term-time-only position.
