We are actively seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our highly regarded specialist school. The Role: Specialist SEN Support (SEMH Focus)

  • In-Class Learning Support: Providing targeted 1:1 or small group support to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve individualized learning targets.
  • Behaviour and Emotional Regulation: Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour management, develop pupils' emotional regulation skills, and enhance social interaction.
  • IEP Implementation: Actively supporting the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific intervention strategies for vulnerable pupils.
  • Resource Preparation: Assisting teachers with the creation of bespoke learning resources and ensuring an organized, structured classroom environment.
  • Supervision and Safeguarding: Supervising pupils during break and lunch periods, ensuring their safety, engagement, and welfare.
  • Communication: Contributing to progress reports and review meetings, maintaining effective communication with the teaching and multidisciplinary team.
  • Personal Care Assistance: Providing support with personal care needs where necessary (full training provided).

What We Look For: Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in SEN/SEMH (Highly Desirable): Proven experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with complex SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Resilience and Patience: Demonstrable ability to remain calm, patient, and highly resilient when navigating challenging situations.
  • Relationship Building: Skilled at quickly establishing strong, professional, and nurturing relationships with pupils built on trust and mutual respect.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable to support diverse year groups and curriculum subjects within the specialist setting.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A clear and unwavering commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
  • Teamwork: Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within a supportive staff team.
