We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with young people aged 7-16 years who have learning difficulties and speech and language needs.

Position Overview

Full‑time, permanent role based at a local special educational needs school. Hours are 08:30‑16:00, Monday‑Friday, with a start date in September. The successful candidate will support students on a 1:1 basis in accessing learning in accordance with their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and the ECHP.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with and participate in the development of students' skills, supporting pupils to reach their potential for independence.
  • Support pupils' participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local community.
  • Provide the support and care identified in students' individual learning plans.
  • Encourage and enable students to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene.
  • Participate in relevant training to achieve required qualifications and attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as required.

Qualifications

  • A desire to help others enjoy learning and develop independence.
  • GCSEs with a minimum Grade C/level 4 or equivalent, including Maths and English language.
  • Experience of working with adults or children with learning or communication difficulties.
  • Honest, trustworthy and ethical behaviour at all times.
  • Own means of transport (desirable).
