About the Role

This is a pivotal full-time position for a dedicated DT Technician to join a specialised technical environment in Leeds. The successful candidate will act as the vital link between ambitious curriculum goals and practical classroom execution. This role involves managing a high-spec workshop, ensuring all machinery is primed for use, and providing direct technical support to students as they navigate complex engineering projects. Starting ASAP, this position is perfect for someone who takes pride in a perfectly organised tool rack and a safely functioning workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for all DT and Engineering lessons.
  • Perform daily safety checks on all machinery and hand tools to ensure a secure environment.
  • Provide at-the-bench technical assistance to students during practical sessions.
  • Maintain and service specialist equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and saws.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of CAD/CAM machinery, such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, including the ordering of consumables and specialised materials.
  • Ensure all hazardous substances are stored and handled in strict accordance with COSHH regulations.
  • Maintain an organised, clean, and efficient workshop and storage system.
  • Assist teaching staff in the development of new project prototypes and demonstration models.
  • Implement and uphold the school's Health and Safety policies to the highest standard.
