About the Role

Are you a compassionate, resilient individual looking for a rewarding role in education? Randstad is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a fantastic school in Newton Abbot, starting this September. This is a full-time position working school hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM), making it perfect for maintaining a great work-life balance. You will be providing crucial 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities as an SEN TA:

  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Deliver tailored learning activities adapted to the specific needs and abilities of the pupils.
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers and the school SENDCo to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment where pupils feel supported.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work settings are all highly valued).
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, exceptional patience, and a nurturing, empathetic nature.
  • Qualifications: A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or Team Teach training is a plus, but passion and the right attitude are most important.
  • Requirements: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and two satisfactory references.

Why Join Randstad?

  • Excellent Daily Pay: £92.56 - £95.00 per day, paid weekly.
  • Ideal Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, term time only - no evenings or weekends.
  • Location: Easily accessible school based in Newton Abbot with parking and good public transport links.
  • Career Growth: Access to Randstad's free CPD training courses (e.g., Safeguarding, Autism Awareness).
  • Dedicated Consultant: Support from a specialised education recruitment team.
