Cover Supervisors Needed for Secondary Schools in Sussex

We are actively recruiting dedicated Cover Supervisors to support a variety of vibrant and welcoming secondary schools across East and West Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the classroom, ensuring continuity of learning for students during teacher absences.

The Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing classrooms and ensuring students remain on-task with pre-set work. Your main duties will include:

• Supervising classes of students in the absence of their regular teacher.
• Managing the behaviour of students to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Distributing and explaining pre-planned lesson materials.
• Assisting students with their work and answering questions to the best of your ability.
• Providing feedback to the returning teacher on the progress made and any issues that arose.
• Upholding the school\’s policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young people, preferably in a school or similar setting.
• Confidence and strong presence to effectively manage a classroom of secondary school students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to be adaptable, resilient, and think on your feet.
• A proactive and positive attitude.
• An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or the willingness to obtain one).
