We are seeking a Chemistry specialist to join a high-achieving Secondary School on a long-term basis, delivering impactful lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with A-Level opportunities available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialist Instruction: Plan and deliver a rigorous Chemistry curriculum that challenges students and fosters a deep understanding of chemical properties and reactions.
- Practical Laboratory Leadership: Oversee and demonstrate safe, engaging experiments—from titrations to flame tests—ensuring students bridge the gap between abstract theory and physical reality.
- Academic Excellence: Prepare Year 11 (and potentially Year 13) students for their examinations with targeted revision sessions, mock assessments, and personalised feedback.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Differentiate your teaching methods to ensure Chemistry is accessible and stimulating for learners of all abilities.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a highly organised laboratory environment, ensuring all COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Data-Driven Progress: Use student performance data to monitor progress and implement effective interventions to help every pupil reach their potential.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is mandatory.
- A relevant degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience teaching the UK Chemistry curriculum at the Secondary level.
- Strong classroom management skills and an unwavering commitment to laboratory safety.
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
