We are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming school community in Newton Abbot. The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs (which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties).
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 or small group support to ensure pupils can access the curriculum.
- Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Managing challenging behaviour with patience, empathy, and positive reinforcement.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience working with SEN children is essential (within a school, care, or youth work setting).
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to adapt quickly to the varying needs of the pupils.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
