Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Inspiring Lessons: Plan and teach engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE), aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Full Teaching Ownership: Take responsibility for the full academic cycle, including lesson preparation, constructive marking, and tracking student attainment to support progress.
  • Encourage Critical Thinking: Create a stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel confident expressing their interpretations, debating ideas, and expanding their vocabulary.
  • Support Diverse Needs: Tailor your teaching strategies to stretch high achievers while offering structured support for pupils building their foundational literacy skills.
  • Departmental Involvement: Contribute to departmental meetings, assist in refining schemes of work, and support extra-curricular literacy initiatives or reading clubs.

Candidate Profile

  • We are looking for an articulate, creative educator with a genuine love for language and literature.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (Early Career Teachers are warmly encouraged to apply).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering English Language and Literature within a UK secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain high standards of behaviour and student engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and departmental peers.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
