Teaching Assistant | Autism (ASC) Specialist | Local Specialist Schools Position: Full-Time, Long-Term (Term Time Only)
Salary: £90 - £95 per day (weekly pay dependent on experience)

Join our specialist network as an Autism Support Assistant and help children with ASC navigate their school day with confidence, comfort, and success.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to students with Autism to achieve daily learning tasks aligned with EHCP goals.
- Use visual schedules, 'now and next' boards and other communication tools (PECS, Makaton, Visual Timetables) to support learning and transitions.
- Help manage sensory environment to reduce overload and maintain student safety.
- Recognise early signs of sensory or emotional deregulation; implement calming strategies or 'masking' breaks before crises occur.
- Facilitate structured play or social interactions to support development of friendships and peer‑based learning.
- Support staff and contribute to the school’s autism support strategy and curriculum planning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience or personal knowledge of working with individuals with Autism (professional or personal).
- Understanding of TEACCH or ABA principles is a significant advantage.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) and commitment to safeguarding.
- Calm, observant, and resilient; ability to provide patient, kind support during challenging moments.
