You will be the backbone of daily school operations, ensuring that learning never stops when a regular teacher is absent.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Management: Supervise whole classes (KS3 & KS4), maintaining a purposeful, safe, and positive learning environment.
- Lesson Delivery: Deliver pre-planned lesson materials left by the class teacher, ensuring all students are engaged and on-task.
- Behaviour Policy: Implement and uphold the school's behaviour policy consistently, dealing with any immediate issues professionally.
- Student Support: Respond to general queries from students and provide feedback to the department regarding progress and engagement.
- Reporting: Collect completed work and provide concise handovers for the returning teacher.
- Experience: Previous experience working with young people (coaching, youth work, or school-based support) is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong communication skills and the "presence" to command a classroom of 30 students.
- Personal Qualities: Resilience, adaptability, and a calm demeanour under pressure.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Education: A degree is advantageous but not essential; a passion for education is a must.
