Your role would include
- Providing teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curriculums
- Planning, preparing and delivering lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills
- Supporting pupils\’ participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
- Providing behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
- Providing personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
- Monitoring pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for pupil needs
- Assisting with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time
Skills and capabilities
- Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent, in English Language & Maths
- Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
- Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
- Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
- Ability to keep calm in high pressure situation
- Own means of transport, due to location desirable
