Randstad Education is currently seeking a dedicated Plumbing Lecturer to join a progressive Further Education college in Cambridge. Whether you are an experienced Plumbing Lecturer seeking a fresh environment in Cambridgeshire or an experienced plumbing practitioner looking to transition your industry knowledge into teaching, this role provides an exceptional platform to shape future craftspeople.

You will join a well-resourced construction and building services department equipped with modern workshop bays, working alongside collaborative colleagues to make vocational training practical, engaging, and career-focused.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Practical & Theoretical Training: Plan and deliver practical workshop sessions and classroom theory across Levels 1 to 3 plumbing qualifications.
  • Full Academic Ownership: Take responsibility for session preparation, practical demonstrations, student assessment, and constructive feedback to ensure high pass rates and skill mastery.
  • Workshop Safety & Standards: Maintain strict health, safety, and environmental standards across all workshop spaces, ensuring tools, pipework rigs, and testing equipment are managed safely.
  • Industry Alignment: Teach essential skills including pipe bending, jointing techniques, sanitation systems, central heating systems, and relevant water regulations.
  • Student Progression: Support learners of all backgrounds, building their confidence, technical accuracy, and readiness for apprenticeships or industry employment.

Candidate Profile

  • Skilled, safety-conscious Plumbing Lecturer with strong industry knowledge and clear communication skills.
  • Holds an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plumbing & Domestic Heating, alongside relevant trade experience.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, or PTLLS) or Assessor qualifications (A1/TAQA) are highly desirable; industry experts willing to work towards a teaching qualification are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven track record of working as a Plumbing Lecturer, instructor, or workshop trainer.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical codes and practical techniques clearly.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
