As the EL1 Assistant Director – Economics and Insights, you will lead a team that explores key economic issues within the disability and broader care sectors. Using economic frameworks, research, and modelling tools, your team will conduct critical analyses to support pricing and sustainability decisions that maximize stakeholder wellbeing and resource efficiency. This is a chance to be part of a team where your problem-solving, analytical expertise, and passion for social reform can thrive. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Informing policy decisions, particularly for pricing and market interventions, by using economic research and analysis to promote better understanding of the state of the disability and care sectors.
- Providing support through economic research and investigation for the development and implementation of the agency’s Annual Pricing Review and Pricing Strategy.
- Reviewing and analysing economic data to support evidence-based decision making on complex economic and pricing policies.
- Leading the development of provider performance metrics and sector monitoring dashboards to better understand the disability supports sector conditions.
- Planning and leading ad hoc economic analysis and research requests.
- Working collaboratively and effectively across teams and departments as this work is likely to involve collaboration with other Government Departments and academics.
- Contributing to branch leadership, building a positive and high performing team culture.
The successful candidate for this role will possess the following:
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to tackle complex economic issues.
- The ability to synthesise complex information, and translate findings into succinct policy narratives and advice in plain English for a wide audience.
- Sound judgement, decision-making and governance skills.
- Experience developing and implementing analytical frameworks to monitor policy and program impacts.
- An appreciation and knowledge of the economic complexities of the care economy.
- Be a strong collaborator, who works well in teams and with stakeholders to solve problems.
- The ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- A postgraduate degree in economics and econometrics, or similar.
