Job Title: Senior Windows GUI Developer (Contract)

About the Role
A leading engineering contractor near Reading is looking for a Senior Desktop Developer to build a standalone Windows GUI application completely from scratch.
You will own the end-to-end delivery of a tactical navigation interface—functioning like a specialized \"Sat Nav\" console—that allows operators to input geographic coordinates and send route command data directly into a flight control system.
Because this is a short, high-impact sprint, you will need to work autonomously, set up the project architecture, and deliver a reliable, working application within a 6–8 week window.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience building standalone Windows Desktop GUIs from scratch.
- any Language-agnostic background: Open to C# / WPF, C++ / Qt, Python, or Electron OR Java, provided it delivers a smooth, native Windows desktop application.
- Experience handling inputs/communications over standard protocols (e.g., Serial, Sockets, TCP/UDP).
- Familiarity with geographic/coordinate data (lat/long, mapping, or waypoint inputs) is a major plus.
- Ability to work independently and deliver fully functional software with minimal hand-holding.
