About the Organisation

We are a premier economic development institution dedicated to making finance markets work more effectively for smaller businesses across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Data Intelligence & Analytics team and play a pivotal role in managing enterprise data that directly influences board-level decisions and high-profile financial schemes.

The Role

As a Data Manager, you will be the single responsible person for our key enterprise data relating to a specific asset class. You will oversee the collection, validation, cleansing, and transformation of data from a range of internal and external delivery partners (including investment funds and challenger banks). Acting as the principal subject matter expert on this data, you will ensure the timely provision of accurate analytical datasets to support critical reporting across various banking programmes. Additionally, you will provide task management and coordination for a pool of up to 4 FTE at Analyst grades.

Key Duties

  • Data Quality Control: Implement automated technical audits to maintain data accuracy and align financial info with control logs.
  • Data Integration: Manage the migration, transformation, and validation of datasets into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Leadership: Lead an analyst team to ensure technical standards and schedules are met for all data tasks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as lead expert, advising C-suite and partnering with departments to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Governance: Assess future data needs and provide strategic guidance on BI architecture.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven expertise in Power BI, PowerQuery, and DAX.
  • Technical mastery of database design and data modeling.
  • Experience delivering complex queries and datasets to strict schedules.
  • Extensive background in validating precise financial data.
  • Confidently manages and challenges senior stakeholder requirements.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Azure stack.
  • Experience with schema-less technologies.
  • Investment management or software development background.
  • Familiarity with AI and data science principles.
