My client is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Assurance) to support the secure delivery of mission-critical rail infrastructure systems. This role suits a hands-on OT cyber security specialist who can lead assurance activities across products and integrated solutions, from bid stage through to commissioning and in-service support.
Role Overview
You will act as the cyber security assurance lead, providing technical leadership across:
- Security architecture
- Threat & risk assessment
- Standards & compliance
- Security testing & validation
- Assurance documentation
You will work closely with product, delivery, and customer security teams to ensure security is designed in, implemented, and assured throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cyber security assurance end-to-end (bid, design, build, test, commission, support)
- Engage with customer security teams to align on strategy, assurance, and risk appetite
- Define security requirements and design secure architectures (zones & conduits)
- Perform threat modelling and risk assessments; define appropriate controls
- Define and oversee security testing, including FAT, SAT, and penetration testing
- Assess third-party components against security requirements
- Represent cyber security at project reviews and stage gates
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering or technical discipline
- Proven experience leading cyber security in OT environments
- Strong hands-on knowledge of IEC 62443
- Working knowledge of CENELEC standards
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- CISSP, CSSLP, or CESG Certified Professional (CCP)
- Experience mentoring engineers
- Background in rail, utilities, industrial automation, or other safety-critical sectors
