A leading firm is seeking a Quality Engineering Lead for a massive, ground-up digital transformation.
You will own the QA strategy for an entire application lifecycle modernization project, spanning front-end web/app channels, order processing, and complex multi-system integrations.
As the Quality Engineering Lead, you will own the testing blueprint, champion shift-left QA practices, and guide a talented pod of engineers to deliver a flawless, high-performance customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Automation Strategy: Take ownership of a modern, cutting-edge automation framework, leveraging next-gen agentic capabilities to supercharge delivery speed and coverage.
- Lead & Mentor: Manage, coach, and elevate a multi-disciplinary team of quality engineers, fostering a collaborative culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- E2E Ecosystem
Assurance: Design robust testing strategies covering complex integrations, from digital storefronts and secure payment paths down to warehouse logistics and real-time order tracking.
- Stakeholder
Collaboration: Act as the technical QA subject matter expert, embedding early testing into the development lifecycle and translating testing metrics into actionable insights for senior leadership.
Essential Skills
- Solid background in the Retail, E-Commerce, or Grocery sector.
- Proven experience as a Test Lead, QA Lead, or QA Manager in fast-paced Agile environments.
- Hands-on automation skills using Playwright with Type Script.
- Experience testing complex workflows like shopping baskets, order management (OMS), or fulfilment.
- Strong proficiency in Jira and Zephyr for test management and defect tracking.
- Track record navigating large-scale business migrations and third-party system integrations.
- Location: Leeds (Hybrid) | Rate: £500 to £550 a day Inside IR35 | 6 Months Contract
