Are you an experienced Mobile plant operative with a Loading Shovel licence within the Construction industry? Do you consider yourself to be proactive and an asset to a busy team? Are you based in or around Stoke? We have a temporary Mobile Plant Operative role available within Cauldon works. The successful applicant will be someone familiar with the Construction or Heavy Industry environment and is capable of handling hazardous material, working in all weather and operating a loading shovel.

Location: Holcim, Cauldon Cement Plant, Yelsway Ln, Cauldon, Stoke-on-Trent ST10 3EQ

Rate: £13.63 ph

Contract length: until the end of December 2026 potentially extending until 2027

Shift Patterns: Monday - Friday Hours are 05:00am - 14.30pm

Start: ASAP (within 1-2 weeks)

Responsibilities:

  • Operate Machinery: Drive wheeled loading shovels safely across quarries
  • Load Vehicles: Fill HGV lorries, articulated trucks, and hoppers with bulk materials.
  • Manage Stockpiles: Organize, monitor, and maintain material stockpiles
  • Promote site health and safety at all times
  • Ensure site housekeeping is maintained to highest standard.

Essential requirements:

  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle due to site location
  • A valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) loading shovel card
  • Previous experience (2+ years) within the Construction or Heavy Industry environment
  • Ability to adhere to the shift pattern detailed above
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
  • CSCS card would be an advantage
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
