Are you a HNC/HND (or equivalent) holder within Engineering, Construction or Structural Engineering? Do you consider yourself to be proactive, IT literate and personable? Catnic manufactures and supplies a range of steel based products into the House Building and Construction Sector including their reputable Lintels range.
Role: Junior Technical Services Engineer
Location: Pontypandy Industrial Estate, Caerphilly CF83 3GL
Rate: £13.51-£14.03 per hour
Contract Length: 12 months with the view to transition into a permanent role after the development programme
Hours: Mon-Fri, 37 hours per week
Start: ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment, which does include a drug & alcohol test
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the delivery of technical advice, drawing interpretation and product guidance to customers and internal stakeholders
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and construction details
- Assisting with technical calculations and product/application queries
- Supporting the preparation and amendment of CAD drawings and technical documentation
- Liaising with sales, manufacturing, design, and project teams to support customer requirements
- Helping resolve technical issues and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Maintaining accurate technical records and documentation
- Building strong technical product knowledge through structured training
- Contributing to continuous improvement within the Technical Services function
- Completing all development objectives within the 12‑month CPD programme
- Adhering to the highest standards of UK Health and Safety at all times
Essential Requirements:
- HNC/HND holder (or equivalent) within Structural Engineering, Construction, Civils or Engineering
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering and/or Construction drawings
- Some exposure to structural, civil construction or manufacturing technical environments (12 months+)
- CAD experience (preferably AutoCAD)
- Strong IT literacy, especially with MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organise own day and prioritise workload accordingly
- A proactive nature with an open mindedness towards continued development
