This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming hospital medication management through advanced automation technology. As the Hospital Pharmacy Workflow Specialist (Connected Medication Management Specialist), you will serve as the dedicated on-site expert supporting the rollout of ward automation solutions at Derriford Hospital. In this role, you will guide clinical teams through change, deliver high-impact training, and ensure systems are optimised for safety, efficiency, and long-term success. Your expertise will directly contribute to improved patient care and operational excellence across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation Leadership: Lead the on-site implementation of ward automation solutions, serving as the primary contact for clinical and technical queries.
  • Training Empowerment: Deliver tailored training programs that empower Trust staff to become confident system users and internal trainers.
  • Change Management: Facilitate change management activities to support the smooth adoption of new digital clinical workflows.
  • Workflow Optimisation: Optimise system configurations and clinical workflows post-deployment to ensure safe and effective use.
  • SOP Development: Collaborate directly with multidisciplinary clinical teams to develop, refine, and embed standard operating procedures.
  • Data Continuous Improvement: Analyse system data to identify potential risks, highlight best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Project Support: Provide hands-on project support, including preparing new rollout areas and driving early staff engagement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear, timely communication between key technology partners and Trust teams, contributing actively to regular review meetings.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
  • Professional Qualification: Qualified in Nursing or Pharmacy with a strong foundation in medication management and clinical training.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience working within hospital settings (nursing or pharmacy services).
  • Training Problem-Solving: Proven skill in delivering clinical training, solving complex operational problems, and adapting to evolving healthcare environments.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Confident working independently while building strong, trust-based relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Detail-focused with the ability to interpret operational data and translate insights into actionable workflow improvements.
  • Mobility: Holds a valid driving licence and is comfortable travelling across multiple sites within the Trust/ICS when required.
