About the Role

Are you an expert in Mobile Device Management looking to make a tangible impact across a massive European retail estate? We are seeking a Retail Digital Applications Specialist to join a leading, household-name retail brand, on an exciting contract basis. In this role, you will take the reins of our digital and mobile applications across the UK and Europe. Your primary mission will be utilising Airwatch (VMware Workspace ONE) to standardise and unify the setup, configuration, and security of over 2,500+ enrolled iOS devices (predominantly iPads and iPhones). Beyond mobility, you will act as the L2/L3 bridge for our broader in-store digital ecosystem-supporting everything from Meraki Wi-Fi networks to digital signage, in-store audio, and online booking services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobile Device & Application Management: Manage a fleet of 2,500+ iOS devices via Airwatch MDM. Oversee app signing, certificate maintenance, and software updates while enforcing strict security configurations across UK & EMEA markets.
  • Infrastructure & Network Support: Collaborate with Tech Operations and Global Infrastructure teams to support Meraki Wi-Fi networks, manage IP addressing, and troubleshoot retail telecom/network services.
  • In-Store Digital Solutions: Act as the technical touchpoint for high-visibility store tech, including digital signage CMS, in-store audio, workforce management tools, and digital receipt solutions.
  • Collaboration & Business Support: Serve as the escalation point for incidents beyond L1/L2 service desks. Work closely with Business Analysts and brand stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into clear business solutions.
  • Governance & Documentation: Maintain pristine reference documentation, run compliance reports, and apply change management principles to ensure software updates cause zero disruption to store trade.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Experience:

  • Strong MDM Expertise: Proven hands-on experience with Mobile Device Management platforms (specifically Airwatch/Workspace ONE).
  • Apple/iOS Ecosystem: Deep familiarity with managing iOS devices, including app signing and certificate management.
  • OS Troubleshooting: Solid experience supporting macOS and Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Networking Basics: A foundational understanding of networking principles, including Wi-Fi security best practices (Meraki experience is a massive plus).
  • ITSM Knowledge: Strong alignment with Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with non-technical business users and store teams.

Desirable (But Not Essential):

  • Experience managing digital signage Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Prior experience working within a Retail IT environment.
  • ITIL V3/V4 certification.
  • Awareness of enterprise security and compliance standards (PCI-DSS, GDPR, PII).

Why Apply? / Benefits

This is a brilliant opportunity to own the digital workspace strategy for a major retail estate. With a massive push to unify the UK and European infrastructure, this role offers excellent project longevity, a highly collaborative team environment, and a likely 12-month extension for the right candidate.
