Are you a driven Electrical Engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges? Do you consider yourself to be a specialist in designing and optimising systems that help to deliver world class efficiency? One of the largest steel manufacturing companies in the UK is offering an exciting permanent opportunity to be involved in a defining moment for the future of steel making. This role is ideal for someone with heavy industry, project management and CDM regulations experience. The successful applicant will be a degree educated Electrical Engineer who has a solid understanding of project management techniques, risk assessment, and safety study methods.
Location: Port Talbot SA13 2NG
Shifts: Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:45
Salary: Competitive and based upon experience
Start: ASAP but pending the result of a medical assessment (which does include a drug and alcohol test)
Responsibilities:
- Delivering complex engineering projects
- Working on projects to help deliver world class efficiency, safety and sustainability of operations
- Supporting on major capital projects
- Planning, designing and executing electrical work from concept to commissioning
- Collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver technical solutions
- Coordinating with cross functional teams to ensure project objects are met
- Ensuring any designs comply with industry standards, codes and regulations
- Overseeing installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment
- Working as part of a team that is driving engineering excellence, collaborating with a range of diverse stakeholders
- Creating project plans and proposals that will support and improve our business
- Drafting technical specifications and requests for quotations from OEMs and contractor partners
Essential requirements:
- Degree educated in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years industry experience (Heavy industry/Manufacturing and/or large scale engineering environments)
- The ability to project manage and lead a team with proven experience of this
- Familiarity with the construction (design and management) regulations (CDM)
- Sound understanding of UK health and Safety legislation including risk assessments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
