The Company: Our company is delivering a critical Peaker power plant project in North East Wales. The facility will generate 15.7kV power and requires comprehensive onsite management of multidisciplinary installation works. We seek an experienced, hands-on Quality Engineer to be our primary technical representative onsite, ensuring seamless execution, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Site Oversight: Oversee and coordinate all onsite installation activities, ensuring they adhere to project specifications, program, and HSEQ standards.
- Client Interface: Act as the primary technical and engineering point of contact for the client on site, managing day-to-day interface and ensuring expectations are met.
- Sub-vendor Monitoring: Monitor and measure installations carried out by sub-vendors across all key packages, including high-pressure gas pipework, HV/LV electrical installation, and general civil/mechanical works.
- Quality Control: Review and approve inspection test plans (ITPs) and chair onsite quality review meetings.
- Technical Management: Manage the technical query (TQ) and site non-conformance (NCR) process, coordinating with design teams for timely resolution.
- Compliance: Ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant regulations (e.g., PSSR, BS 7671, DSEAR, CDM 2015) and client-specific safety protocols.
- Inspections: Conduct daily site walks, audits, and inspections to monitor safety, quality, and progress.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HND/BEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Several years' post-qualification experience in a site-based project engineering role, preferably within power generation, transmission & distribution, or process plants.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical installation standards (particularly 400V and 15.7kV) and practical experience overseeing industrial gas pipework systems.
- Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Harm culture; SMSTS/IOSH and COMAH/PSSR awareness is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting ITP's, engineering drawings, schedules, and specifications.
- Valid UK driving license and the ability to pass BPSS and enhanced DBS background checks.
