Are you a detail-oriented Engineer with a passion for precision? We are looking for a Test Technician to join the world-class Hitachi Rail team in Newton Aycliffe.
Location: Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6UG
Contract: Temporary, ongoing (ASAP Start)
Shifts: Mon-Fri - Weekly Rotational - Days shift: 07:00 - 15:00 & Backshift - 14:30 - 22:30
Pay: £21.31 hourly days & £25.57 hourly afternoons - PAYE; £28.91 hourly days & £34.69 hourly afternoons - backshift (Umbrella)
Your Role:
- Testing & Validation: Performing routine and complex testing on fleet trains to ensure safety and performance.
- Complex Fault-Finding: Using engineering drawings and specialised tools (Rapier) to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Technical Collaboration: Working alongside Lead Technicians and Engineers to investigate failures and provide critical technical feedback.
- Quality Maintenance: Ensuring all work meets the rigorous standards expected of world-class rail manufacturing.
What You'll Need:
- Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Essential).
- Technical Literacy: The ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Experience: A background in fault-finding, maintenance, or validation (Rail experience is a major plus, but other engineering backgrounds such as Mechanical and Electrical are welcome).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting technical failures.
