Overview

Title: Mechanical Technician

Location: Corby, Northampton

Shift: Day Shift Only – Rotating shift pattern – includes working 3 weekends per month

Salary: Circa Β£40,000 – Β£41,000 per annum (including shift allowance)

The Company:

We are undergoing substantial investment and development to drive the organisation\’s mission of being a sustainable metal provider. The successful applicant will be a time served Mechanical Crafts person who has worked in heavy industry, carrying out maintenance craft work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refurbish and maintain roll stands by disassembling, inspecting, and rebuilding them.
  • Interpret technical drawings to replace and repair parts, including the fitting of bearings and gears.
  • Operate induction heaters and presses.
  • Assist the tooling department and help with the movement of spare parts on-site.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and support departmental improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A time-served apprenticeship and NVQ3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least two years of experience in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Exceptional skills in mechanical fitting, including bearings and gears.
  • Experience using induction heaters and presses.
  • Capable of performing a physically demanding role and comfortable working with grease, scale, and dust.
  • A valid UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
  • The ability to be fully flexible and work different shift patterns.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a good understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation.
