Freelance Senior QS/Commercial Manager - Special Projects Division - London. I have an urgent requirement for a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to run multiple (2-5) projects from preconstruction (cost planning, estimating and pricing) through the construction process and to close out. The projects are varied - primarily fit out but also including minor infrastructure, refurb/build, decarbonisation and M&E etc.
The role will involve preconstruction and procuring and managing principal/main contractors, so is a hybrid contractor/client side opportunity, which will suit an individual who has strong experience both pre and post-contract, preferably on fit out and/or refurb projects under £5m. Contract duration will be a minimum of a year/ongoing freelance, with the potential for temp-to-perm as required. The role is multi-site across two locations in London with one day a week working from home.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and run multiple projects (2-5) from preconstruction through to close out with project values typically £1m-£5m.
- Perform cost planning, estimating and pricing during preconstruction; procure and manage principal/main contractors.
- Operate in a hybrid contractor/client side capacity, leveraging strong experience in both pre- and post-contract activities.
- Manage multi-site delivery across two locations in London; accommodate one day per week remote working.
- Ensure projects align with programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements throughout its lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Senior QS or Commercial Manager, with strong pre- and post-contract capabilities.
- Background on fit-out and/or refurb projects, preferably under £5m.
- Freelance/contract availability for at least 12 months with potential for temp-to-perm.
- Eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
