A rapidly growing multidisciplinary consultancy, helping to make rail improvements happen for local communities across a variety of sectors - including rail, highways, utilities and aviation - has a fantastic opportunity for a Manchester based Project Manager to join their team working on high-profile rail schemes in the city providing client-side project management support and oversight from development through to completion. Due to the nature of the projects, the successful candidate must live within the Greater Manchester area; candidates outside this area will not be considered.
Required Qualifications
- Experience delivering complex, multi-disciplinary rail projects such as new stations, footbridges, depots, or car parks from early development to completion.
- Strong Client or Consultancy background in the rail sector.
- Understanding of civil, structural, and permanent way disciplines.
- Stakeholder and relationship management skills, able to build trust and influence effectively.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial in approach.
- Commercially astute, with experience in NEC3 or NEC4 contract administration.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A Degree in Project Management, Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Ideally hold project management qualifications i.e. Prince2, APM etc.
- Be chartered with a relevant professional body or actively working towards chartership (ChPP, CMICE etc).
Responsibilities
- Act as a client representative and provide the key interface between parties to deliver major rail infrastructure projects on behalf of local authority clients.
- Develop and maintain effective client relationships, monitor client satisfaction levels, and respond urgently to any client concerns.
- Ensure progress is communicated regularly with Clients and that improvement plans are developed and implemented as necessary to benefit the Project.
- Ensure regular effective communication with clients and within the project team.
- Complete and keep up-to-date Project plans for health, safety, quality and environment.
- Instigate and manage specific risk assessments as required by the company H&S Policy and specific project requirements.
- Ensure that projects comply fully with all statutory and regulatory provisions.
- Monitor work progress and compliance to specifications and standards and collate documentation and records.
- Ensure project costs are regularly reviewed and invoices are raised on a regular basis.
- Attend Project Management review meetings.
- Some involvement in wider activities may be required as part of the role including preparing fee estimates, resourcing the programmes, identifying and managing risk, undertaking site visits and managing Health & Safety paperwork.

- £65,000 – £78,000 per annum negotiable dependent on experience.
