An internationally acclaimed company that specialise in the design and manufacture of rail engineering technology is looking to hire a HSQE Manager to join their team in Plymouth. Working alongside companies like Network Rail, Deutsche Bahn, Siemens and Thales, the company supplies over 100 products, all designed to increase productivity, reduce possession times and improve railway and worker safety.
As a HSQE Manager you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and improving the site's HSQE management systems to ensure continued legal compliance and strive to implement best practice across all disciplines.
- Acting as the main in-house source of reference for HSQE topics.
- Presenting a professional stance during site visits/audits and being the main point of contact with regulatory bodies regarding HSQE topics.
- Engaging with all departments to ensure effective QHSE practices are in place across the site.
- Maintaining and improving existing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems on the site.
- Developing the health and safety system to be capable of achieving ISO 45001 certified status.
HSQE Manager Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience of HSQE management systems appropriate for a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to present findings and explain HSQE performance to a range of audiences, including senior management, visitors and employees.
- A good team player with the ability to form strong working relationships.
- A recognized professional qualification in one or more of the QHSE disciplines.
- Membership of one or more relevant professional bodies (e.g. CQI, IOSH, IEMA).
- Credibility on the shopfloor and in the Boardroom, to ensure both legal compliance and best practice are embedded within the business.
- A problem solver - adept at working with others to facilitate solutions.
- Organised and accurate with high attention to detail and good report writing skills.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
- A high standard of personal motivation and initiative.
- Able to lead and organise direct reports and to support their development within the business.
- The ability to respond positively to pressurised situations when they occur.
- Flexible and adaptable to the changing demands of a busy manufacturing environment.
