Role: To coordinate and support materials compliance, testing, trials and technical documentation activities across the project ensuring that materials used on site comply with specification, approval requirements and construction programme needs.

Role Responsibility:

  • Manage Materials Compliance Requests (MCRs) in coordination with site teams ensuring timely completion, review, acceptance and distribution of documentation.
  • Maintain and update the Plant and Materials Schedule, MCR dashboard and other associated compliance trackers, including monthly submissions where required.
  • Maintain critical materials registers and trackers, including concrete mix design registers, technical notes, technical datasheets for concrete constituents and other materials.
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and Quality Team to maintain accurate records of concrete quality testing and compliance status.
  • Coordinate and organise concrete trials in line with the construction programme and project requirements.
  • Manage and witness concrete trials on site or at the batching plant in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and Works Inspection Requests (WIRs).
  • Draft and issue Concrete Trial Reports and other associated technical documentation.
  • Manage interfaces between site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and testing laboratories in relation to material approvals and testing.
  • Attend construction, coordination and quality meetings as the materials representative where required.
  • Attend pre-pour and post-pour inspections to support materials compliance and assurance activities.
  • Prepare thermal control plans for mass concrete pours, including installation planning for thermocouples, collection of temperature data and analysis/reporting of thermal performance.
  • Support the preparation of material-related RFIs, technical submissions and project records.
  • Assist in the management of material compliance within handover documentation and quality assurance packs.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with project procedures, relevant specifications, standards and quality requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

  • Good understanding of construction materials, specifications and testing requirements.
  • Experience managing materials compliance processes (MCR/MAR).
  • Ability to interpret specifications and technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating testing, trials and laboratory activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to analyse test data and prepare technical reports.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC systems and compliance requirements.
  • HND/HNC/NVQ in Civil Engineering, Materials or Geotechnical discipline.
  • CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience with concrete trials, thermal control and mass concrete.
  • Experience working with supply chain, laboratories and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and materials performance requirements.
  • Experience supporting NCR reviews and technical queries.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Materials.
  • Working towards professional qualification (e.g. ICE).
