An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join the team delivering the next phase of a major HS2 infrastructure project. With the main civil engineering works substantially complete, the project is moving into a significant programme of MEP installation across five ventilation and evacuation shafts. The MEP works are currently progressing through design, with installation due to begin in November and delivery continuing through to 2028, followed by testing, commissioning and technical assurance into 2029.
This is an excellent opportunity to become involved at a key transition point in the programme, taking responsibility for construction and technical assurance as the project moves from design into installation and commissioning. As Project Engineer, you will have a strong site presence and help ensure MEP works are installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with the approved design and project requirements. You will work closely with contractors, engineering teams and technical specialists, providing assurance throughout construction and helping resolve technical and interface issues as they arise.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong MEP engineering experience covering mechanical, electrical, public health or associated building services systems.
- Experience delivering complex MEP installation, testing and commissioning.
- Experience working on rail projects or working in a rail environment.
- Strong construction, site and design assurance experience.
- An understanding of technical assurance and managing engineering issues during construction.
- Confidence working with contractors, designers and technical stakeholders.
- An appreciation of the NEC Supervisor role and construction assurance responsibilities.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience working as an NEC Supervisor, Supervisor's Representative, Field Engineer or Project Engineer.
- Experience working under NEC contracts.
- Previous HS2, Crossrail, Thames Tideway or other major infrastructure experience.
- Rail station or other rail systems interface experience.
The project involves MEP installation on a significant scale, offering the opportunity to work alongside specialist engineering teams and subject matter experts across HS2.
