Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering Manager (CEM) - Works Delivery (Civils) to join Network Rail on a 6-month+ contract based at Heaton Mersey Depot, Manchester.

  • Role & Responsibilities
  • Lead CEM activities associated with civils works delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve designs, methodologies, and technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, designers, and project stakeholders.
  • Manage technical risks, engineering changes, and delivery issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project delivery teams.
  • Ensure engineering standards, documentation, and handover requirements are achieved.
  • Support effective decision-making on technical matters.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (MEng preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the rail industry.
  • Approximately 8 years' civils engineering design and delivery experience.
  • Around 3 years' experience as a CRE or in a similar engineering management role.
  • Strong understanding of rail civils design, delivery, and engineering assurance processes.
  • Experience managing technical interfaces, risks, and engineering issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
  • Previous CEM / Works Delivery experience.
  • Experience delivering major rail infrastructure projects.
