Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering Manager (CEM) - Works Delivery (Civils) to join Network Rail on a 6-month+ contract based at Heaton Mersey Depot, Manchester.
- Role & Responsibilities
- Lead CEM activities associated with civils works delivery.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and approve designs, methodologies, and technical submissions.
- Coordinate with contractors, designers, and project stakeholders.
- Manage technical risks, engineering changes, and delivery issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project delivery teams.
- Ensure engineering standards, documentation, and handover requirements are achieved.
- Support effective decision-making on technical matters.
Essential Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (MEng preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the rail industry.
- Approximately 8 years' civils engineering design and delivery experience.
- Around 3 years' experience as a CRE or in a similar engineering management role.
- Strong understanding of rail civils design, delivery, and engineering assurance processes.
- Experience managing technical interfaces, risks, and engineering issues.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
- Previous CEM / Works Delivery experience.
- Experience delivering major rail infrastructure projects.
