HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Current Opportunity: Certification Engineer

Location: The North Region comprises Sublots 7 and 8 from Curdworth to Handsacre and runs for approximately 30km. It stretches through a mainly rural landscape between Lichfield, Tamworth and down towards Coleshill.

Role Description:

  • Implementing technical assurance management procedures
  • Facilitating configuration workshops/reviews as necessary
  • Managing the production of handover packages, ensuring quality of data captured
  • Ensure all HS2 technical and contractual requirements are included in the BBV plans and procedures, and communication of these to the team
  • Monitor change and updates to the requirements and ensure appropriately communicated and actioned
  • Support management for delivery of the Technical Assurance and Handover from completion of detailed design through to handover packages (As-built and Quality Record Packages) at each phase of works completion, ensuring full records traceability and availability to the satisfaction of the Client

Essential Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience managing QMS on major construction projects, including technical assurance, handover, and certification.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 auditing and quality risk prevention.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, information‑management, and technical writing skills.
  • Proven people‑management abilities: delegation, mentoring, and team development.
  • Highly organized, proactive, safety‑committed (CSCS/SMSTS), with experience using MS Office and project information systems (e.g., IBM DOORS).
  • Driving license
