Infrastructure (Rail / Energy / Defence / Highways)

Fed up being a name on a spreadsheet at a Tier 1? Want to actually be involved in the fight? We're working with a specialist M&E, comms, fire, HVAC and cabling contractor delivering fit-out on major Rail, Energy, Defence and Highways/tunnel infrastructure projects across the UK. They supply into the big Tier 1 main contractors - and they need QSs who know how to hold their ground when Tier 1 tries to short-pay an application or knock a variation without explanation.

This isn't a tick-box, senior sit-back role. You will be down in the detail — managing applications, chasing change, holding firm on your numbers, and building relationships that get you paid what you're owed.

What you'll need:

  • Genuine Tier 2/3 SME background — at least 70% of your career, not Tier 1 or client-side
  • A Services-leaning QS background: M&E, comms, fire, HVAC, cabling/containment
  • Experience in infrastructure or highly regulated environments (rail experience is a bonus, not a requirement)
  • The drive to fight your corner — and the diplomacy to do it without burning bridges
  • Hungry to make a name for yourself — this suits someone still early-mid career with something to prove

What's on offer:

  • £350-£450 per day (Outside IR35), depending on route
  • Genuine involvement in live infrastructure projects, not just admin
  • A business that wants to develop and invest in you, not just plug a gap

If your CV is full of Tier 1 household names, this probably isn't for you. If you've been grafting for an SME getting your applications paid the hard way — get in touch.
