An exciting opportunity has arisen for two CAD Data Analysts to join a major rail organisation, working within its CAD function to support the quality and acceptance of CAD and engineering data supplied across a range of major contracts.
This isn't a traditional CAD drafting or design position.
You'll focus on the data behind CAD and models, assessing incoming information, running validation checks and ensuring submissions meet the appropriate specifications and minimum data requirements.
You'll work closely with contractors, CAD colleagues and Information Management teams, analysing everything from file structures and metadata through to supporting evidence and data acceptance requirements.
The key question you'll help answer is whether the information being supplied is compliant, consistent and usable by the next person in the information lifecycle.
Essential experience
- Experience working with CAD/model data or complex technical datasets.
- Strong understanding of data structures, quality and how information moves between systems or lifecycle stages.
- Ability to analyse information against defined requirements and identify where data does or doesn't comply.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to explain findings and provide constructive feedback to stakeholders.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach.
- Experience presenting or reporting on data.
Nice to have
- Power BI experience.
- Knowledge of IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) and open data schemas.
- Experience with Project Wise or e B.
- Exposure to Bentley i Twin.
- Understanding of BIM/CAD model structures and how models are developed.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 or information lifecycle principles.
- Experience with Power Shell, Python, FME or APIs.
- Previous experience within rail, infrastructure, construction, architecture or another engineering environment.
Candidates could come from CAD, BIM, Digital Engineering, Information Management or Data Analyst backgrounds.
Rail experience isn't essential, but you'll need to be comfortable working with technical and engineering information!
This could particularly suit a CAD or BIM professional looking to move away from producing drawings and models into a more data-focused position, or a Data Analyst who has experience working with technical, spatial or engineering information.
