Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient pre-boarding labourer to join our team on a busy new build housing development in Morpeth. This is an excellent, long-term opportunity for a skilled individual to play a crucial role in preparing our properties for plastering, ensuring a high-quality finish from the outset.
The Role:
Key responsibilities include:
- Gap Sealing: Accurately applying expanding foam to fill all gaps around window and door frames, pipework penetrations, and any other voids.
- Airtightness: Applying silicone expertly to achieve airtightness around electrical boxes, service penetrations, and junctions between different materials, contributing to energy efficiency.
- Taping & Jointing: Taping and filling plasterboard joints to prepare for skimming.
- Beading: Fixing angle beads to corners and stop beads to openings with precision.
- General Prep Work: Ensuring all areas are clean, dust-free, and perfectly prepared for the plastering team.
- Working efficiently across multiple plots to meet demanding site schedules.
- Adhering strictly to all relevant building regulations and quality control standards.
- Liaising effectively with Site Management and other trades.
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in pre-plastering, pre-boarding, or snagging roles on new build housing developments is essential.
- Demonstrable expertise in the accurate and neat application of expanding foam and silicone.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Strong understanding of typical new build construction methods and processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple plots.
- Reliable, punctual, and a proactive approach to work.
- Strong communication skills.
- Own essential tools (e.g., mastic gun, filling knives, utility knife) and PPE (hard hat, safety boots, high-vis vest).
- Preferably own transport, or ability to reliably commute to the Morpeth area.
