The Company:
We are a supportive, family-owned civil engineering business delivering a range of highways and infrastructure projects through public sector frameworks. We are currently seeking a capable and motivated Site Agent to support the successful delivery of key schemes across the Eastern Highways Alliance (EHA) Framework in the Cambridge region.
The Role:
As Site Agent, you will be responsible for the on-site management and coordination of civil engineering works, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of highway and infrastructure projects. You will play a crucial role in site leadership, supporting the Project Manager in delivering works ranging from £3 million to £40 million, including both Design & Build and Build-only schemes.
Your duties will include:
- Leading and supervising site operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Managing subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and materials on site
- Coordinating with engineers, foremen, and commercial teams to ensure smooth site delivery
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to maintain excellent working relationships
- Maintaining accurate records and site documentation
- Supporting programme delivery and reporting progress
Framework Overview:
Projects delivered through the Eastern Highways Alliance (EHA) covering multiple active and upcoming schemes across Essex and Cambridgeshire. Long-term, funded programme of civil infrastructure upgrades.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience as a Site Agent (or Sub Agent ready to step up) on civil engineering projects, ideally highways and infrastructure
- Proven ability to manage site teams and subcontractors in a live construction environment
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations, health and safety, and quality control
- Experience within framework or public sector project delivery preferred
- Flexible and hands-on, with a commitment to delivering to programme and spec
- Based within 1 hour of Cambridge or willing to travel
